Certified Professional Training Courses

In conjunction with the 2020 Wildlife Expo, the National Wildlife Control Operators Association (NWCOA) is offering Certified Professional Training Courses for technicians. After successful completion of any course, the student will receive credentials, use of the NWCOA logo mark in marketing materials and a certificate of completion. All courses listed below
are offered at an additional fee. Please sign up on the registration form.

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 3

NWCOA Training Course Breakfast

8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Day 1 of 2)
NWCOA Certified Wildlife Control Operator Training Course
NWCOA Master Instructors and Certified NWCOA Instructors
The NWCOA Certified Wildlife Control Operator Training Course will be offered by NWCOA to train new and current WCOs that perform wildlife management services in or on residential and commercial properties. This course is a two-day, hands-on classroom style training course taught by Master NWCOA Instructors and Certified NWCOA Instructors. Course topics include bats, birds, squirrels and other commonly encountered problem species, animal biology, animal handling, euthanasia, inspection, safety, and more. Upon successful completion of this course and a test, the WCO will receive a certificate of completion, use of the logo mark in marketing materials and become a Certified Basic Wildlife Control Operator.

NWCOA Certification – Bird Management
NWCOA Master Instructors and Certified NWCOA Instructors
The NWCOA Certified Bird Management Course, Part 1 will be offered by NWCOA to train WCOs that currently perform or wish to add residential and small commercial bird management to their wildlife management services. This course is a one-day, classroom-style training course taught by Master NWCOA Instructors and Certified NWCOA Instructors.

NWCOA Certified Rodent Training Course
NWCOA Master Instructors and Certified NWCOA Instructors
This course has been a long time in the making and combines 100+ years of experience from seasoned pest and wildlife control operators. Topics covered during this course will include biology, control strategies, ID and inspection, and exclusion. NWCOA Bat Standards Certified (1 day)
NWCOA Master Instructors and Certified NWCOA Instructors
The NWCOA Bat Standards is offered by NWCOA to aid in the survival and future of bats in North America, as well as to educate those who perform bat exclusion services in residential and commercial
structures. The Bat Standards Certified Course (Part 1) covers bat biology (little brown, big brown, free-tailed, and pallid bats), bat behavior, bat identification, bat morphology, service agreement language for
bat removal and guano removal, seasonal restrictions, inspection techniques, equipment, safety, detailed exclusion techniques, job pricing, decontamination techniques, rabies, bat handling, updated white-nose syndrome information, and much more. This course is a one day, classroom-style training course taught by Certified NWCOA Instructors. Upon completion of this course and successful passing of a test, the WCO will become NWCOA Bat Standards Certified. Successful students will also receive a certificate of completion and have use of the logo mark in marketing materials.

NWCOA Zoonotic Disease (1 day)
NWCOA Master Instructors and Certified NWCOA Instructors
The NWCOA Zoonotic Disease Course is offered to aid those individuals who with wildlife in familiarizing themselves with the more common zoonoses and understanding their risk factors and routes of transmission. Zoonotic diseases are often highly contagious and yet not always easily diagnosed, which heightens the need for consistent and committed prevention efforts and a solid understanding of disinfection principles. This 1-day course explores all of these and other critical aspects to clarify and strengthen participants’ understanding and knowledge related to zoonotic disease. Participants will learn about the major groups of pathogens, gain familiarity with a variety of diseases - including several newly discovered diseases - and gain insights into the science and benefits surrounding disinfection
